How to Remove the Torsion Bar of a 1992 Chevy Pickup

    • 1). Place the jack under the Chevy. Raise the truck to a comfortable level.

    • 2). Use a wheel wrench to loosen the wheel nuts and remove both front wheels.

    • 3). Support the lower control arm with a floor jack.

    • 4). Increase the tension on the adjusting arm with the J-36202 tool.

    • 5). Remove the adjustment bolt with a socket wrench. Lift off the retaining plate from the bar.

    • 6). Slide the torsion bar forward and remove the adjusting arms.

    • 7). Remove the two nuts and two bolts from the bar support crossmember and slide the bar to the back of the truck.

    • 8). Remove the support crossmember bar. Remove the retainer, the spacer, and the bushing from the support crossmember.
