When your interior space is running out and you have no room for your flammables to be stored you may look for space outside the facility instead of altering your interior facility.
Industrial grade safety cabinets are meant to store flammable materials with several safety features that will help inhibit flammables from exploding.
When looking at cabinets they should always be OSHA and NFPA approved with 2" side vents to prevent vapor from settling in the cabinet, vents are placed at the top and one at the bottom.
Cabinets are equipped with fusible links at the door hinge which will melt at temperatures of 165 degrees for automatic closure of doors on self close models.
Even though safety cabinets are finished with a resistant finish to withstand chemicals as well as humidity, they are not intended to withstand direct contact with the elements.
There is one type specialty cabinet that has been weatherproofed for outdoor storage of chemicals and that is a weatherproof safety cabinet.
These cabinets can be kept not only under awnings outside but in the middle of a field if need be.
The cabinet has special features that include, Stainless Steel locking handles, forklift channels to keep the cabinet off of the ground, exterior astragals that prevent rain penetration, a sloped roof and a weather resistant ultra violet finish.
These double walled outdoor flammable cabinets are the perfect solution to your chemical storage needs and will reduce any risks to either overcrowding of cabinet chemical storage in a facility which is against OSHA regulations and NFPA guidelines as well as increasing the risk of an incident in your facility.
Cabinets typically come in capacity storage of 30, 45, 60 and 90 Gallons, with storage of miscellaneous cans to 5 gallon gas cans.
There are manufacturers that will customize your outdoor safety cabinet to various dimensions but if cost is an issue it may be best to buy the stock items.
Another negative on purchasing a safety cabinet for outside is the turn times which are 4-5 weeks opposed to the standard safety cabinet which is about 1 week.
If you are looking into moving your storage outside but the capacity far exceeds storing 90 to 180 gallons of flammables, you may need to look into purchasing a flammable locker or small hazmat building that can store 55 gallon drums as well as the smaller 5 gallon cans.
