    • 1). Determine your color scheme and overall theme, if applicable. Assemble accessories and decorations related to your theme.

    • 2). Emphasize your entrance area and pathway. The path is the first thing your guests will see, so line it with pretty plants, fountains, or tealight candles. You can create an arbor of flowers or balloons for guests to walk through as they enter, which sets the scene and creates anticipation for the main event.

    • 3). Arrange the chairs close together so the seating area feels intimate even in the vast outdoors. Set them up so that everyone has a good view of the altar. To add an elegant touch, drape a string of flowers or ribbons over the last row of chairs for people to see as they reach the seating area.

    • 4). Create a beautiful backdrop at the altar for the bride, groom and officiant. You can make a decorative arbor or use a feature that is already present, such as a garden pergola. If your wedding is in a scenic area, such as one with a cliffside view or a country garden in the background, you might simply need to figure out the best angle at which to stand it to accentuate the wedding party.

    • 5). Elevate the wedding party if the land is flat. Placing everyone up on a podium can make it easier for guests to see everything and provides yet another decorating opportunity. Drape the podium with fabric and flowers in the colors of your wedding to set it off.
