How to Start a Weed Wacker
- 1). Position the Craftsman Weed Wacker trimmer on a flat and level surface for starting. Remove any rocks, limbs or debris from the area that could interfere with the starting process.
- 2). Locate and open the gas cap on the Weed Wacker. Check that there is enough gas in the tank to start and operate the Weed Wacker. Fill the tank with fresh gasoline that was recently purchased and avoid using older gas that has been stored as this can foul the tank and fuel line. Replace the cap on the fuel tank.
- 3). Check the oil level in the Weed Wacker by removing the oil fill plug. Look into the oil fill tube to determine if the level of the oil is up to the lowest thread on the inside of the oil fill tube. Add 4-cycle engine oil to the fill tube to raise the oil level to the lowest thread. Replace the oil fill plug.
- 4). Press the primer bulb 10 times or until fuel is visible in the primer bulb. Move the choke lever to the number one (1) position.
- 5). Crouch down beside the Weed Wacker, place one hand on the throttle control and grip the starter cord handle with the other hand. Squeeze the throttle control so it is completely down and pull the starter cord five times.
- 6). Move the choke lever to the number two (2) position and pull the starter cord between one and five times until the engine starts.
- 7). Hold the throttle down for at least 30 seconds to allow the engine to warm up and then move the throttle lever to the number three (3) position.
