Just like the Hamptons on Long Island and Cap Cod in Massachusetts, southern Rhode Island is known for its beautiful and quaint ocean-side real estate. In fact, it is the area's lack of over-development that makes it so attractive as a getaway. Though entertainment may be on a smaller scale than in larger cities and suburban areas, you can find plenty of party activities, even for children. - Amusement parks are always an option for a children's party. In the southern Rhode Island area, the park of choice is Adventureland in the town of Narragansett, which is located just across the water from Newport and Jamestown islands. While it's not as elaborate as Six Flags, Adventureland still has a number of rides and games, including go-karts, bumper boats and miniature golf. The park also has special discount rates for groups, which vary according to group size.
- Another ideal spot for kids' parties is a bowling alley. Groups of children can participate in a single game, making it easy to keep track of them all. Kingston Bowl is located in North Kingston, Rhode Island and has dozens of lanes as well as its own full-service pub. The alley also promotes children's birthday party specials with two packages that include such perks as free shoe rental, a free pizza or hot dog, bags of goodies, and access to the reserved table area.
- The aptly titled Water Wizz is a water slide park established in 1986. It is located in Westerly, just a couple of miles from Connecticut in the southeast corner of the state. The entertainment choices range from the Giant Waterslides, which are a teen favorite, to the Little Dipper, which is better suited for smaller children. All rides have supervisors who watch over the splash pool at the end of the slide. Similar to Adventureland, there are discounted rates for groups as long as you make reservations.
- Atlantic Beach Park, located on secluded and quaint Newport Island, has been around since the 1920s and includes vintage boardwalk entertainment such as the park's original, antique carousel and band organ. There are dozens of activities for kid's parties, such as bumper cars, batting cages and an arcade room with more than 75 different games. There are also a number of spots to picnic. The beach park provides a snack bar with burgers and hot dogs, as well as an ice cream stand. Ocean swimming is also available.
