How to Come Up With Good Blog Post Ideas

One of the worst thing about blogging is that sometimes, every single idea you come up with for blog posts are really lame.
Sure, you could write any of them and they would be fine, but not great.
As a blogger, though, you really have to be able to push through this problem and write even when it seems that you don't have any good ideas.
Some of the tips below may help you when it seems that all of your article ideas are lame.
  • Set a timer for 15 minutes and write down every single idea that pops into your head that may work on your blog.
Don't worry at all about whether or not the ideas are any good.
Just write, as fast as you possibly can, without censuring.
What will end up happening is that although a lot of the ideas will be bad, you're bound to come up with some ideas for blog posts that are good as well.
  • Discuss the problem you're having coming up with ideas to blog about with a friend or family member, particularly one who is supportive of your work.
These people do not necessarily have to be writers themselves, and they may not even have great ideas for articles themselves either, but sometimes just talking about it with someone can spark an idea in your mind that would be great to write about.
  • Exercise.
There's something about exercise or other mindless activity that jump starts creativity.
Jogging and walking seem especially good at generating ideas for articles.
If possible, it's even better to jog or walk in an area that is beautiful, such as out in the country or in a nice park, but sometimes great ideas come in the city as well, as a result of all of the things you might see and hear while you're out jogging.
One thing you might want to be sure to do is to bring some type of recording device with you when you exercise, so that if you do get a great idea for a blog post, you can quickly record it so that the idea doesn't vanish before you make it home.
  • Freewriting is another great way to come up with ideas for things to write about.
Freewriting is very effective because it removes all barriers to writing such as the rules that many times hamper creativity.
When you freewrite, you simply write about whatever comes to your mind, and the possibility of great blog post ideas become unearthed while freewriting is tremendous.
  • Just write.
I will admit that when I'm not in the mood to write, writing is the last thing I want to do.
But I've found that when I make a commitment to write, and just do it, even when I don't feel like it and when I don't have any idea of what to write about, as I write, the ideas begin to flow.
Consistency is a hugely important part of continually generating more ideas, so the more you write, the more blog post ideas you'll have.
