Cooking Instructions for a Tri-Tip Roast
- 1). Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Add the olive oil to a clean, plastic spray bottle.
- 2). Place the uncooked tri-tip roast into the roasting pan. Spray the surface of the raw roast with a thin layer of olive oil.
- 3). Pat the slicked surface of the tri-tip roast with your choice of seasonings. Pepper, salt, sage and basil make a good blend of herbs and seasonings for a slow-roasted cut of beef.
- 4). Cover the roasting pan with aluminum foil. If the roasting pan comes with a lid, omit this step and use the pot's lid. Place it in the preheated oven and allow it to roast slowly for three hours.
- 5). Check the internal temperature of the tri-tip roast with a meat thermometer. Insert the tip of the thermometer deep into the thickest part of the roast and read the temperature. Beef's internal temperature can be anywhere between 120 and 180 degrees F for safe consumption and depending on how rare or done you prefer your beef.
