Baseball parties are a summer staple for kids and adults alike. Hot dogs, a baseball-shaped cake and a friendly game make for an afternoon's entertainment. One detail that cannot be overlooked is party favors. A bag full of goodies to take home is sure to be a hit with your guests. - Buy a baseball for each of your guests and supply ball point or felt-tipped pens for them to autograph each other's ball. Kids will relish the chance to feel like big-leaguers, and adults will have fun signing with a celebrity flourish. Make a game to see who can collect the autograph of every guest in the least amount of time.
- Most craft stores sell plain baseball caps. Buy one for each guest and supply fabric paint for them to decorate it with their favorite team's logo. Have everyone vote on a party team name and logo so the hats will commemorate the event. Use puffy fabric paint for a real ball park texture.
- Baseball cards are an inexpensive baseball party favor. Provide each guest with a pack or two and you have instant entertainment. Some can trade for their favorites and others can play card-flipping games. Either way, they have a souvenir that may be worth money in the future.
- A small autograph book is a favor that they can bring to future games, a reminder of the party as they collect the signatures of their favorite players. The best autograph books are small enough to fit unobtrusively in a pocket, and small notebooks are inexpensive. For a quick party activity, have the guests customize the cover of their autograph books with stickers and markers.
- One of the best things about the ball park is the food. While a hot dog makes a lousy party favor, ball park treats are perfect for the job. A box of candied popcorn or a pouch of chewing gum brings out the kid in everyone.
- Mini plastic batting helmets can be purchased quite inexpensively. Use them to serve snacks or dessert, then wash them out for the guests to take home. They can hold other party favors and be personalized with paint pens or permanent marker.
