    Halloween Costume Crafts

    • Create simple Halloween costume crafts to help 4- to 6-year-old children celebrate the holiday. Create masks out of paper plates. Help children cut eye holes and provide craft materials to create a variety of masks. Paint the plate yellow and add an orange fringe around the plate to create a lion mask. Create a mouse mask by painting the plate gray and adding gray construction paper circles to the top of the plate to form ears. Use elastic to secure the mask onto the child's head. Children can use paper grocery bags as masks, too. Cut eye holes and create any type of mask. Create a monster mask and cut green craft foam hands with claws and glue them to gloves. Create feet out of craft foam, too, and glue them to socks to create a monster costume.

    Halloween Decorative Crafts

    • Create Halloween crafts to use as decoration for home, preschool or school. Children age 4 to 6 have fantastic imaginations which come in handy when creating craft projects. Provide children with bowls of different-shaped pasta. Ask the children to create a skeleton on paper, using the pasta as the bones. Dried beans such as lima and navy and dry rice are also good materials to create a skeleton. Provide a reference for the children to look at, along with paper and glue. Not only will this craft be a spooky addition to Halloween decor, but it will help teach students about the human body. Create decorative jack-o'-lanterns to adorn a window. Cut a pumpkin shape out of orange construction paper. Cut the shapes for a jack-o'-lantern from the pumpkins. Some children may need help with this. Glue a piece of yellow tissue paper to the back side of the pumpkin and hang in a window. When the light shines through it, it will look as if there is a candle inside of a jack-o'-lantern.

    Halloween Trick-or-treat Bag Crafts

    • Help children make their own trick-or-treat bags. Use a brown paper lunch sack to create a jack-o'-lantern treat bag. Paint the bag orange and cut out triangles for the eyes and nose and a jagged mouth shape out of black construction paper. Another simple way to make a trick-or-treat bag is to take an orange, black or brown gift bag with a handle and decorate it with Halloween-themed stickers. Add an orange ribbon on the handle for decoration.

    Other Halloween Crafts

    • Create spooky ghost pins to keep or give as gifts. Cut ghost shapes out of white craft foam. Add googly eyes and draw an open mouth with a black marker. Hot glue a safety pin to the back of the ghost. Have an adult do the hot glue. Create pumpkins in the same way, cutting a pumpkin shape out of orange craft foam. Creating edible crafts is another way a child can enjoy the holiday. Bake sugar cookies and use orange icing to create pumpkin-colored cookies. Use Halloween sprinkles and candy corn to decorate.
