DIY Mini Golf Course
- Determine how large you would like your mini golf course to be by figuring out how much space you have. Draw plans for anywhere from 1 to 18 holes of mini golf. Be creative and use the space to come up with unique ideas for curves, hills and other fun ideas for different holes.
- Line up 2-by-4-foot boards along the edges of 36-by-60-inch medium-density fiberboards for each hole you want to create. Use a saw to cut the 2-by-4s for the outer border of each hole. Secure the 2-by-4s to the edges of the fiberboard for each of the mini golf holes using wood glue.
- Use a 4-inch hole saw to drill a hole in the end of each piece of fiberboard. Place the fiberboard down with the 2-by-4s on the bottom, spray the top base of the fiberboards with adhesive and attach the felt to the fiberboard. Pull the felt taut and even, and cut the edges off each corner until the felt is attached in an even layer on the fiberboard. To pull the felt through the center hole correctly, make several small triangular cuts over the hole and pull the edges through so the felt ends up even on top.
- Use everyday items around your house, such an odd-shaped pieces of scrap wood or old pet toys, such as hamster tubes, to create challenges for each of your golf holes. Be creative in placing several pieces of the fiberboard together to form different types of angles and challenges.
- Finish the course by laying down each of the fiberboard bases for the holes. Cut pieces of 2-inch baluster board and fit them around to form the border of each of your holes. Use small nails to secure the baluster boards around the edges of each hole.
