Getting out and participating in a sport for the first time can be difficult, especially if it requires skills you are not used to. A sport where getting started can be difficult is golf, since it can be difficult to learn the proper form. In the same regard there will be no bad habits that need to be broken. Learning the proper golf swing is one of the hardest things to accomplish when starting at golf.

There are four key aspects to learning the proper golf swing. First, develop the proper golf stance. Then, concentrate on your backswing. Then, make sure your downswing stays on path. Finally, make sure your club is square to the ball upon impact.

A proper stance can ensure your golf swing begins on the right track. Have the ball equidistant between your feet and let the club dictate how your stance should change from there. Make sure your stance does not hurt you physically, as you will need to repeat it.

Once you have a stance you are comfortable with it is time to work on your backswing. Make sure to keep your club on plane with the ball with good rotation. Failing to execute a proper backswing can result in an error in shot accuracy. Make sure to concentrate during your backswing as well.

Make sure your downswing stays on the same path as your backswing to ensure your shot stays as accurate as possible. Swing back till your shoulders are "coiled" and "uncoil" towards striking the ball squarely upon impact.

Having a great stance, backswing and downswing are only worthwhile if you are able to hit the ball squarely as much as you can. If you do not hit the ball squarely on impact your stance, backswing and downswing will be all for naught. Failing to hit the ball squarely will result in a hook or slice. So concentrate!

The simple golf swing requires concentration and practice but following these simple steps can help the novice golfer get off to a roaring start in their golf adventure.

Learning the proper golf swing will not guarantee you become a pro but it could help you the next time the boss asks you to play a round or with friends down at the local driving range.
