Children's Guide to Planting Seedlings
- Before planting the seedling, learn whether it will grow best in partial shade or bright sunlight. If it's planted in the wrong location, it may not grow.
- Seedlings bought in pots are small, but the hole dug in the ground should be a little larger than the pot. A hand digger makes planting easy for children. Simply scoop the soil from the ground, and place it to one side.
- When the hole is dug, turn the pot on its side, gently hold the seedling and soil in place with one hand, and tap the bottom of the pot with the other. With a few light taps, the potted seedling should slip out of the pot.
- Keeping as much soil around the seedlings as possible, place it in the hole, fill in the hold with the remaining soil, and pack it down with your hands. Water it well, and wait for the plant to grow.
