    • 1). Measure 2 inches in from one end of the wooden post and mark it with a pencil. Measure 4 inches up from that same end and mark it as well. Run the post through the table saw and cut between the two pencil marks, resulting in a small angle on one side of the wooden post. This cut side of the post is now the back of the post.

    • 2). Measure 1 inch in from the side of the steel "L" bracket and note it with the marker. Measure the same distance in from the other side and mark it. Measure 2 inches down from each of the two marks and make two more marks, creating a 2-inch square with marks in each corner.

    • 3). Drill four holes in the steel "L" bracket through each of the marked dots.

    • 4). Lay the post on the ground so that the back, with the previously cut angle, of the post faces to your left. Measure 5 inches from the previously cut bottom of the post and 2 inches in from the side and mark it with the pencil.

    • 5). Install the wood drill bit in the drill and drill completely through the post at the marked location.

    • 6). Turn the post again so that its back is facing the ground. Lay the steel "L" bracket against the front of the post, and align the bottom of the bracket to the bottom of the post. Using the pencil, mark with the holes in the bracket lined up with the wood. Remove the bracket, and drill completely through the post.

    • 7). Line up the steel "L" bracket with the holes in the post and insert the bolts. Screw on the nuts on the opposite side and tighten them to the post using the crescent wrench.

    • 8). Pass the metal dowel through the other hole in the post, and install the wheels on either side. Your DIY Johnson bar is now completed.
