How to Remove a Utility Box From a One-Ton Truck
- 1). Place your one-ton truck in park and engage the emergency brake.
- 2). Remove all the tools and other items from the inside of your utility box. This will make it easier to move once you have removed the mounting bolts.
- 3). Loosen and remove the mounting bolts and washers that hold the utility box J-bolts in place on each side of your truck.
- 4). Wedge the pry bar carefully between the side bed of your truck and the lip of the utility box where it rests. Do this on both sides simply to loosen the box from the body of your truck.
- 5). Grasp the edge of one side of the utility box while your helpers grasp the other side and lift the box up. Move it from the spot where it was mounted and lower it to the ground.
- 6). Remove the foam padding underneath. Use a plastic putty knife to remove any adhesive residue from the protective foam padding.
