Free Press Summer Fest

Houston Summer Fest is the annual summer music festival put on by Free Press Houston, an independent newspaper published once monthly. Despite the muddy terrain, last year's Summer Fest was widely considered a huge success, allowing for even more prominent acts to be featured in 2010.

Summer Fest 2010 will see acts such as Flaming Lips, Slim Thug, Girl Talk, Ra Ra Riot and more take the stage.

Funfest

Is there anyway at all you can not have a good time at something called "Funfest"? I propose not. Especially considering there will car cruising, bar-b-que, amusement rides, live music and lots of children's activities. Oh, and it's in Texas City. Winner all the way around.

Galveston Caribbean Carnival Festival

In addition to all the things you'd expect at a festival (food, live music, parades), you'll also be treated to a limbo competition, various arts and crafts and a costume contest. Sounds like a thumbs up.

Juneteenth Celebration

Another event located at the always enjoyable Miller Outdoor Theatre, the Juneteenth Celebration, which is aimed at celebrating African-American culture, will feature live music (blues, gospel, jazz) and numerous side events.
