  Piraeus is a few miles southeast of Athens on the Greek mainland. It serves as the port to the Greek capital today as it has for many centuries. All cruise ships making a stop in Athens will come ashore in Piraeus, but do not expect great attractions and tourist facilities. • The two-star Hotel Ideal is a budget property located a few blocks from the port and a few hundred yards from the city center in Piraeus. Open year round the hotel underwent a 2007 renovation and offers no-frills accommodations while providing a base for both business and leisure travelers with fax and computer services, laundry service and late-night room service. The 31 basic rooms provide little more than standard beds and wooden furniture reminiscent of a college dorm but with TV, fridge, air-conditioning and en-suite facilities.
