Cheap Hotels in Piraeus, Greece
- Piraeus is both the gateway to Athens and the Greek Islands.Athens image by Christopher Ritsch from Fotolia.com
Piraeus is a few miles southeast of Athens on the Greek mainland. It serves as the port to the Greek capital today as it has for many centuries. All cruise ships making a stop in Athens will come ashore in Piraeus, but do not expect great attractions and tourist facilities. Instead, the city is little more than a launching point for tours to the capital and its ancient sites. - Located in the heart of the semi-circular port of Piraeus at Mikrolimano Bay, the Hotel Mistral is an oceanfront property with modern design fronted by balconies on every floor and greenery lining the entrance. Besides its proximity to the port, the hotel's draw is the rooftop garden and pool with views of the Aegean Sea where guests may relax while enjoying food and drink from the hotel restaurant. On the main floor, is the formal dining restaurant and Odysseys Bar. The 80 simple but modern guest rooms feature come with flat-screen satellite TV, WiFi, air-conditioning, 24-hour room service and sound proof windows and doors.
