Gymboss General Usage

You may well have read about the Gymboss Interval Timer. However , it can be confusing how to work with it for the 1st time. In this article I will clarify how it features work as well as providing a few real life based examples.

I exploit the Gymboss in three main ways
  • Rest/set timer

For muscle and explosive strength/endurance exercising days, I use the Gymboss like a rest timer. I initially set the timer to 1:00 or 2:00 (when performing pull ups, and set up the Gymboss to manual (indicating that I would be the one to start the timer). I do a set of 10 reps on the chin-up bar followed by leg squats or lunges for instance, after that I push the ‘Start' button on the Gymboss and it would start counting to 2:00 minutes. After two minutes, the Gymboss will give me the go indication to begin a completely new set.

  • Interval timer

The Gymboss can be set to incorporate timers which can operate automatically. So for example I'll set timer 1 at 1:00 minute and timer Two at 30 seconds. I push the start button, the Gymboss will run timer one and I will be running as hard as I can. When the 1st time period is finished the Gymboss will beep twice when timer One is complete
  • Interval timer set

This one may automatically go through the 2 intervals (20 secs and 10 secs) 8 times in case you're doing Gymboss Tabata Interval Training.

When done, alerting the beginning of timer two which tells me that I need to be jogging a little slower this period. The Gymboss Interval Timer further more can be set to perform both the timers at a pre-determined number of times. For my sprinting illustration, it's going to run for 12 times automatically. I just need to pay attention to the beeps, I don't have to check out the timer at all times nor press the ‘Start' button to start the interval timers 1 and 2. Oh it's got vibrate too, in case you're enjoying some melodies, you'll know once the timers are up.
  • Stopwatch

The Gymboss may also be a stopwatch. I use this to time myself once i run 5km. I also use this for ‘timed' workouts. Earlier this early morning, I did 100 burpees within Ten minutes and I used the Gymboss to time it.
