    Foundation of the National Student Nurses' Association (FNSNA)

    • The FNSNA's Promise of Nursing scholarship awards up to $5,000, as of December 2010, which students can use to pay for tuition, school fees and books. The program extends eligibility to students enrolled in nursing programs at schools in Maryland, Washington State, Mississippi, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and schools in select regions of California and Texas.

      Candidates must enroll in an eligible nursing degree program. Applicants must take a minimum of six credit hours, have a financial need for funding and hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

    Catching the Dream MESBEC Program

    • The Catching the Dream MESBEC Program awards scholarships to Native American students enrolled in math, computer science, engineering, education, business and science programs, and students enrolled in any type of medical degree program. Previously called the Native American Scholarship Fund, Catch the Dream (CTD) requires applicants to have a minimum of one-quarter American Indian blood and hold membership in a federally or state-recognized tribe.

      The scholarship only issues awards to students attending accredited U.S. universities and colleges. CTD requires all applicants to also apply for other educational funding, including federal student aid, grants and tribal scholarships.

      Applicants must submit an essay describing themselves and their educational and professional plans. Candidates must provide proof of tribal membership, school admission and high school completion. The program pays up to $5,000 per school year.

    Kaiser Permanente College to Caring Program

    • The Kaiser Permanente College to Caring Program awards funding to college juniors and seniors seeking a bachelor's degree in nursing. Scholarship recipients receive $8,000 per year and $2,000 per year to participate in summer work-study programs at Kaiser Permanente health care centers.

      Program guidelines only extend eligibility to Hispanic students, or descendants of Hispanics, who have a financial need for educational funding. Applicants must hold U.S. permanent residency or citizenship and live in Northern California. The program requires students to have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 and enroll in full-time coursework at a university or college in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

    Blanco Foundation

    • The Blanco Foundation awards scholarships to students enrolled in nursing and educational programs. The foundation only awards supplemental funding and requires candidates to also apply for other financial aid. The program pays awards directly to a recipient's school.

      Applicants must plan to work in nursing or education after graduation and have a financial need for educational funding. The application process requires candidates to submit SAT or ACT scores, an essay describing future plans and two recommendation letters.
