If your idea of relaxation is floating down a lazy river on an inner tube in the midst of one of Central Florida's most beautiful natural settings, then Kelly Park at Rock Springs will provide you with hours of pleasure.
As the name suggests the centerpiece of Kelly Park/Rock Springs, located in the northwest corner of Orange County in Apopka, is the crystal clear spring that bubbles up from a cleft in a rock outcropping.
The waters that pour from this cleft form a meandering stream.
Visitors to the park come to enjoy a leisurely ride down the stream on an inner tube or float. The park does not provide tube rentals, but you can bring your own or rent one from one of the many tube rental shops near the park entrance -about $5 for a day's rental.
A network of boardwalks provide an easy route back to the headwaters to start the ride all over again. Swimming is a favorite activity in the series of lagoons and pools that form the centerpiece of this family friendly park.
Other amenities found at Kelly Park are shady picnic areas with tables and barbeque grills, a full-service concession stand, a playground and camping.
When planning a trip to Kelly Park, it's wise to plan ahead and get an early start. The park is very popular and in the summer is frequently filled to capacity by mid-morning. Once the park reaches capacity, rangers, unfortunately, must turn guests away.
