Finding the Perfect Coffeemaker

Shopping for a coffeemaker can be a daunting task.
There are so many options to choose from in modern models.
When picking out a brewer for home or office use, you have to factor in more than just brewing hot coffee.
Will your users be making single cup or multiple cups? Will the users have time to wait for the coffeemaker to warm up the water? If it will be used in an office environment where coffee breaks can be limited to 15 minutes you may need a unit that can heat water instantaneously.
And, how big of a carafe do you need? These are all questions you may want to ask yourself prior to setting out to buy a new coffeemaker.
Not to mention, how easy will it be to clean? In a previous article, I covered the importance of having an onboard battery backup, especially for programmable units.
So, I won't be covering that here.
I'm going to assume that you will only be making hot coffee and not espresso or ice-coffee.
When looking for a brewer, especially in an office environment, it is important to consider counter space.
I find it amazing that many people will not consider where they will be placing or storing the unit.
Make sure you have enough space for the brewer and any accessories that may be needed, such as cups, pods, filters, etc.
You will also want consider where it will be used and how easy will it be to clean.
If you are buying a model for home use then you may want to get a model with dishwasher safe parts.
It may also be safe to assume that you would have more time, at home, to clean the unit.
However, if you are buying a model for office use then you may want a model that can be cleaned quickly by hand.
Not many offices have a dishwasher on site.
Depending on the type of office environment the brewer will be used in, the programmable feature may not be needed.
If you don't need the programmable feature then you can save a few pennies and get a model without that option.
Another important consideration to make is whether or not the coffeemaker will be moved regularly.
Will it sit where it or will it be moved regularly once it's in place? If you're getting a unit that will be moved often then you may want to consider paying a little more and getting a rugged model.
Unfortunately the cheaper the unit is the easier it may be to break.
That's not written in stone but it's a good rule of thumb; you get what you pay for.
Most of the time.
These may seem like pretty obvious observations but you might be surprised by how often these basic points are overlooked.
If you're like me, time is money.
You want to get what you need and get it right the first time.
That way you don't waste time making multiple trips returning a model you thought you would love, until you got it out of the box.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure; at least that's my thinking.
Once you have figured out all you need in a coffeemaker and you're ready to buy, then you just need to find one in your price range.
Price is the easy part.
There are thousands of makers out there and you're sure to find one that fits your needs and your budget.
I hope this helps some of you find your perfect coffeemaker.
