Western Country Wedding Themes
- Consider a pumpkin and harvest-themed wedding, especially if your wedding is going to be around Halloween. Take the pumpkins and carve your monogram in some and the wedding date on others. If you know someone who's good with carving, have him do carvings of boots and cowboy hats. Consider having tied up cornstalks and sheaves of wheat. You might also add ears of dried corn, grapevine wreaths, and hanging lanterns. For favors, use jars of pumpkin butter with your wedding date and information on the wrapper, or raffia-tied cinnamon sticks.
- With a rustic country theme, you can use bails of hay for seating and decorations around your dance floor and reception area. Other decoration ideas can include wagon wheels, old paint cans, old boots, odd containers, and washtubs. Use washtubs as ice chests to hold beverages for your guests. For table decoration, fill Mason jars with water and put a floating candle inside the jar. Have the bride arrive via horse and buggy or tractor.
- Focus on the land as your backdrop and decor. Build your theme around your favorite flower like black-eyed Susans, sunflowers, or daisies. Use earthy tones for your wedding colors like yellow and gold, sage and russet, and cinnamon and salmon. Theme your wedding with butterflies and dragonflies. Have your flowers wrapped with raffia and a butterfly decal instead of a bow. For table decorations, consider terra cotta pots and put tall, rustic-looking candles in them. Fill tall glass jars with beans, popcorn, or flowers.
- For a country-themed wedding, consider an outdoor barbecue with ribs and chicken. Or, have a pig roast for your main course. For desserts, consider homemade ice cream and homemade baked pies. Consider having an old-fashioned hoedown for your reception with a square dance and a live band with fiddles. Make sure someone at the party knows how to square dance so she can help teach your guests.
