Half Marathon Training Tips
Training to run a half marathon takes a lot of work. Many people get lost down the road and are misguided in several different directions. You will find that this page is loaded with all of the information and tips that you need to be successful. Good luck and enjoy your half marathon training tips!
First off I want to touch on the basics of a half marathon.
#1- It is a 13.1 mile race. It is meant to be ran but can also be walked which is becoming a very common option.
#2 - Without proper training you will struggle to finish.
#3 - Anyone can run a half marathon!
#4 - The mens world recore is 58 minutes and 23 second set by Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea.
#5 - The womens world record is 66 minutes and 25 seconds set by Lornah Kiplagat of the Netherlands.
Here are your half marathon training tips:
- Make a goal. Whether it is to complete the race in a certain time or something else you should have something to strive for.
- Only train for one race at a time.
- Show some respect for the long distance. Just because it is half of a real marathon doesn't mean that 13.1 miles is any easy feat.
- Be committed. If you only plan to train for a week then you are committing to failure. Start preparing a few months prior to the race and stay committed to it.
- Build up your mileage gradually until you reach the point where you are ready to run the 13.1 mile distance.
- Push yourself but still respect your limits. The last thing you want is to over train and end up injured and able to run on the big day!
- Get a training buddy. Your friend can be your motivation and you can also push each other in the days leading up to the race.
- Remember to always stretch.
- Eat well and stay well hydrated.
I hope you enjoyed your half marathon training tips.
