Evaluate the problem

• 1). Check the outlet. Is it working properly with other appliances? Check the cord and plug. Is the slow cooker plugged in properly?
  
  
• 2). Check the heating element in the appliance's base if the outlet and plug are working properly. Is the element warm? If the outlet, plug and heating element are working but the slow cooker is not heating properly, the Crock-Pot thermostat may need replacement.
  
  
• 3). Unplug the unit and remove the interior ceramic pot. Inspect for cracks. Replace if necessary.
  
  

Making the repair

• 1). Turn the base of the appliance upside down. Remove screws, nuts and bolts or clips to gain access to the interior of the appliance.
  
  
• 2). Disconnect the wire connectors after the base has been removed. Test the electrical cord with the multimeter to see if the cord is transmitting electricity to the unit.
  
  
• 3). Remove the heating element from the leads. Test the leads with the multimeter to determine whether the element is accepting electricity.
  
  
• 4). Replace parts as needed and reassemble the slow cooker. Test the appliance at home so that you can monitor its performance and cooking progress.
