How do I Replace a Light in a Tappan Microwave Oven?

    Oven Light

    • 1). Unplug the microwave from the wall outlet. Often, the outlet is located in the cabinet above the microwave.

    • 2). Remove the panel on the top of the front of the microwave. To remove, remove the screws on the front or top of the panel, depending on model, and then pull off the panel.

    • 3). Pull the charcoal filter out of the microwave, if it is installed. The filter is a flat, metallic screen inserted in center of the cavity.

    • 4). Pull the tab on the right-side of the light cover to remove the cover.

    • 5). Unscrew the light bulb from the light socket and discard the bulb.

    • 6). Screw the new bulb into the light socket until tight.

    • 7). Reinstall the light cover and charcoal filter.

    • 8). Replace the front panel and secure it using the screws that were removed.

    • 9). Plug the microwave's power cord back into the wall outlet.

    Bottom Light

    • 1). Unplug the microwave from the wall outlet. Often, the outlet is located in the cabinet above the microwave.

    • 2). Remove the screw or screws, depending on model, from the light cover on the bottom of the microwave. Remove the light cover.

    • 3). Unscrew the old light bulb and screw the new one into the light socket.

    • 4). Replace the light cover and secure it in place using a screwdriver.

    • 5). Plug the microwave back into the wall outlet.
