    • 1). Pick the grapes off of the stems and remove all leaves and vines. Rinse the grapes under water and place them in a stock pot. Measure 6 qts.of water and pour it into the stock pot with the grapes. Place the stock pot on the stove and turn it on medium heat. Allow the grapes to simmer for two hours.

    • 2). Line the strainer with cheesecloth and strain the grapes and water through the cheesecloth. Discard the grapes and reserve the grape water. Pour the grape water back in the stock pot and add 6 lbs.of sugar. Simmer the grape water for one hour stirring frequently to allow the sugar to dissolve and keep it from sticking to the bottom.

    • 3). Line the strainer with a clean piece of cheesecloth and strain the grape juice mixture through the cheesecloth again.

    • 4). Place a funnel on the mouth of the wine bottle and pour the hot wine in the bottle and seal it with a cork or screw on top. Allow the wine to ferment in the bottle at room temperature for one month to one year. The longer the wine ferments, the higher the alcohol content will be.
