    • 1). Park the vehicle on a level surface, set the parking brake, shut off the engine and open the hood. Let the engine and exhaust system cool completely before proceeding to avoid burns.

    • 2). Place a wheel chock on either side of one of the rear tires. Lift the front, passenger side of the car to allow better access to the under side of the vehicle. Do not lift the front completely off the ground.

    • 3). Locate the O2 sensor, which is threaded into the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter. Spray some penetrating lubricant at the base of the sensor and let it sit for 30 minutes.

    • 4). Disconnect the sensor wire from the vehicle's wiring harness by sliding the connectors apart. Back out the sensor with the sensor socket and ratchet by rotating the sensor counterclockwise.

    • 5). Insert the new sensor into the hole and tighten firmly, rotating it clockwise with the sensor socket and ratchet. Connect the sensor wire to the connector on the vehicle.

    • 6). Repeat the process on the driver's side for dual exhaust.
