    • 1). Park the vehicle on a firm, level surface and set the parking brake. Put automatic transmissions in park, manual transmissions in first or reverse gear. Partly loosen the wheel lug nuts. Jack the vehicle up. Set the vehicle securely on a safety stand, completely remove the lug nuts and pull the wheel off.

    • 2). Undo and remove the two caliper guide rod bolts. Grasp the caliper and roll it back and forth to force the brake pads apart a little. Remove the caliper from the disc and hang it out of the using a wire hook or bungee cord. Be careful not to stretch or kink the flexible brake hose.

    • 3). Pull the disc off the hub. If the disc is seized, tap the inner disc surface firmly with a mallet to loosen it. Do not hit the disc rim or the disc braking surface. On 2006 and later models, there is a threaded hole near the center of the disc for an 8 mm jacking bolt. Insert an 8 mm bolt into the hole and tighten to jack the disc off the hub.
