Work From Home : Reasons to Focus on Residual and Passive Income I had a goal to work from home, coffee shop or wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted.
I haven't worked a straight nine to five for several years and I'll let you on a little secret...
Since I quit my lifestyle has only been improving.
This article is dedicated to comparing residual income (sometimes referred to as passive income) to the alternative, which would be hourly, salary or commission income.
Generally people are like robots, they are born, learn how to crawl, and then walk, before you know it they are speaking gibberish and eventually are indoctrinated into our public school system (do the fortunate ones go to private school?) After graduating elementary school then middle school and possibly high school, some of them make a choice to join the workforce and others go to college to get more certifications, qualifications, BA's and advanced degrees.
One thing they don't really teach in public school is self sufficiency...
The whole time they are preparing you to enter the workforce and join the number of countless drones working shifts for corporations and small business making hourly wages that amount to the most basic survival.
The following are a list of reasons why working a day job is not as good as working for yourself: Time is money: Use your time wisely to build your own business! When you work for someone else, you are investing in their company, sure you will be paid for your time but at the end of the day that money will get spent just as fast as you made it and the next day will be spent the same as the last.
This is not an intelligent way to go through life because at the end of the day when you follow this method, if you are unable to work, you are unable to earn.
Where is the safety net? Wouldn't you rather work for your self and build something that you could continue to sell for the rest of your life rather than living hand to mouth? This website and the others that I'm currently making money with generate me enough money to live just as comfortably if not better than I was when I was slaving away at my 9-5.
Learning how to make money working as a company employee takes just as much time as it does learning how to make money online.
The difference is you'll be making money while you sleep if you take this seriously and treat your online and residual income efforts like a real job.
To make money with websites requires an initial investment of labor and effort but after the ball is rolling you have a machine that is working 24/7 to generate you residual income.
If you follow my lead you will be on your way to creating a foundation of internet marketing knowledge that will assist you in implementing a money making machine that works for you and not the other way around.
Some ways you can earn money from home with your website include: Advertising Networks - Google AdSense, Adbrite, Kontera and Yahoo! Affiliate Programs - Clickbank, Commission Junction, Linkshare Create and Market Your Own Product - People sell their own knowledge based products all the time and make a great living from it! This is an avenue I'm currently working on, I've found that after you get over the learning curve, this is truly one of the best ways to earn money online.
You will probably not make a million dollars a month when your just getting started but the initial investment for a business like this can be anywhere from zero to a couple thousand if you want to purchase a successful internet based business and get a head start.
It's my advice that you build a business like this from the ground up.
The reason I say this is that once you've built a system that works it becomes much easier to apply the same formula and repeat it over and over again.
Stop Being a Wage Slave! Most people that work their day job take home an hourly wage.
Who decides how much your worth? Most of us take the first offer we get when applying for a new job.
Some of us negotiate but the employer usually dictates the range with their initial offer.
You are obligated to your employer to perform certain duties and job responsibilities in exchange for your pay.
Most people don't have the luxury to decide when they want to come to work, the tasks they will need to complete etc...
If this is you, I will have to be brutally honest.
You are a wage slave! Having an employer is like having an owner to a certain extent you are not permitted the freedoms of being your own boss, making your own schedule and controlling the course of your business as well as your life.
What happens if you lose the ability to work? What happens if your boss decides you're not as productive as you used to be and wants to replace you with cheaper labor? One thing you will never get back is the time that you invested.
If you really want to know how to make money, not nickels and dimes but really earn the big money...
Focus on intellectual property, market knowledge products that help people, spend effort on creative works in which you can earn royalties with.
Protest the wage slave mentality and take control of your financial freedom.
Helicopter Skills Most jobs require specialists that do one thing in repetition or at best a few things in the same area.
They don't offer you the ability to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the "big picture.
" Nope that's not what they need you for...
In this day and age it is becoming increasingly important to gain what some call helicopter skills.
What are helicopter skills? They are skills that go beyond individual tasks in short it is the ability to understand the process behind the task, to get a grasp quickly on the system so you can ultimately exploit it for your own benefit.
Most jobs will never give you the ability and freedom to learn from experimenting.
When you work for yourself the sky is the limit, there are no right or wrong answers, if something is working, do more of it! If something isn't working as planned go back and make adjustments to your plan to get it back on track.
What I'm saying is that we should always be learning.
Growth comes from experience and working for yourself will give you the incentive needed to learn and implement as many strategies as you can.
It's only natural that you will develop a broad understanding of certain topics in the process.
Why Gamble with Your Life? Does knowing that you could be fired or laid off anytime make you feel secure? Yah, it didn't make me feel too great either.
Most people think that having a career job is the safest way to go...
Yah right! Having a job is actually one of the biggest risks you may ever take in your life.
Why take the chance? There's a lot more risk involved in working for someone else than working for yourself.
If something doesn't work right with the company you work for, they might not be able to fix it...
They might have to fire you to cut costs! Then you go back to square one, which was what I had to do a couple years back and start all over.
The sooner we figure this out, the better our lives will be! Eliminate the Fear! Most people are scared silly when their job is on the line.
They go through life in fear of what they cannot control.
If they were able to supplement their income to the point where their passive income became their primary income, this fear wouldn't really exist would it? I'm not afraid to take a chance; if I set my mind on something I have the patience and determination to see it through.
I wanted to learn how to make money online and that's what I did.
Taking it one step further I wanted to apply that and watch my bank account fill up like a reservoir...
We're still working on that second part but I've been seeing a lot of progress with all of my ventures so it's only a matter of time.
Conclusion Ok, maybe quitting your day job is going overboard at the present moment but start building a safety net! Start building a business in your spare time you can be proud of! There's no reason to be a wage slave, the information is out there, and all you need to do is take initiative! I recognize that these concepts are slightly off topic when compared to the rest of the content on this site.
Regardless, the thought occurred to me that behind the theory, and implementation it's nice to have some background and justification.
Everyone has their motives for something and my motive for this particular site is leading by example and showing people how to make money online.
