Making Your Own Dress
You do not have to attend any classes or learn how to do cuttings for your dress or anything like that.
Of course it is well and good if you want to learn all the basics, before you start doing your own stitching but you will never get to do it unless you have real interest in the subject.
And I believe only those who have the real talent in making dresses will really understand the principle behind it and will learn things easily.
Everyone else can follow short cuts and get things done without going into the technical details.
This will only be possible, if the dress you want to make is not so complicated for stitching and also you know how to sew.
One of the best and easiest ways to go about it would be to buy patterns and simply cut the dress accordingly and stitch it up.
There is one other method which will give you better results but can be followed only if you are a patient person.
For this you may use one of your worn out and well fitting dresses to get a new dress stitched.
First you will have to open up all the stitches of the old dress, iron the pieces, and make paper cuttings of all the pieces and use them to make your own dress.
You can save the paper cuttings for using later, when you want to make a new dress, as long as you fit into the same size.
Once you begin doing your dresses this way and feel more comfortable with the whole idea, then you may use your own imagination and make slight improvisations to your dresses to make them look different from your other dresses.
This will not only help you save a lot of money but also help you develop your creativity.
This method can be adopted to do any simple dress starting from baby dresses to dresses for any age.
