Top Tier Direct Sales vs. MLM
The learning curve was extremely steep and when it comes to a livelihood, there is not a lot of time to fall down and get the usual scrapes on your knees before you figure out actually how to ride the proverbial bike. MLM is actually considered direct sales to a lesser degree. Top Tier companies usually come to most people's mind when you mention direct sales.
So what is Top Tier?
Top Tier companies are also what's called "high ticket" and are called that because of the hefty price tag that comes with the majority of most opportunities within. They can range from selling marketing, financial, or investment information. The product is, in essence in the majority of top tier companies, education and information.
The number one advantage is the opportunity to score in on a big commission per sale. The average commission for various top tier companies can range from $100-$1500. Money can be made with these companies but you definitely have to target the right people if you are thinking of this option!
So what about MLM?
Most MLM companies do not have the heavy price tag of most top tier companies. MLM companies usually have a low to medium cost of entry and the product can range from health foods, vitamins, gold and silver, household items, cosmetics, and etc. The commissions are usually around the $20-$500 range depending and are multi-tiered hence the multi-level marketing title.
The commissions are also monthly. Most MLM companies require a monthly auto-ship order to be placed by its distributors. This simply means buying your own product month after month to which your sponsor will get a monthly commission and so on and so forth.
Top Tier vs. MLM
Top tier you can score big commissions but it's usually a one time deal. Meaning, you make a sale and off that one person you will get that one commission and that's only one time. Once that person buys, it's off to find another. MLM you score a smaller commission but it builds month after month if they either like the product or become a distributor as well. With MLM companies you will have recurring customers, find other distributors, and also make single sales here and there as well without the heavy price tag.
I suggest trying your hand at an MLM just so you don't spend a lot of money learning this process. I thought it was as simple as putting up a website and cashing the checks but then soon learned it wasn't that simple.
What it boils down to is, whether you pick a top tier company or and MLM, presenting as many people as you can with your opportunity any which way possible. It's a numbers game. Make 5 presentations a day and eventually you will succeed. It's as simple as that!
