Christmas day for many people consists of spending the majority of time in the kitchen, making sure the turkey is perfectly prepared for the oven, the potatoes are perfectly peeled and the nibbles ready to serve just in time for Christmas lunch or dinner.
What if, this Christmas, you could spend more quality time with the family, knowing that everything is ready to put in the oven, with no worries or last minute panics? Here are three top preparations which you can do on Christmas Eve, making sure your Christmas day is as enjoyable as possible.
1.
Cold Food - The easiest way to make sure your Christmas day goes as smoothly as possible is to prepare all cold foods the night before.
This includes all fish and salads, which would be mainly part of your starters.
Make sure you cut up all the lemons, avocadoes, tomatoes, olives and prepare all the dipping sauces by pouring them in condiment pots.
Season your fish, place on all cold food on serving plates, cling film and place in the fridge ready for instant service on Christmas day.
2.
Prepare the table - Another way to make your Christmas day as free and enjoyable as possible is to prepare the table the night before.
Put out all the knives and forks.
Take the plates out of the cupboard, making sure they all match and there is enough for everybody.
Stack the plates on one side of the table so all you have to do is quickly lay them when the food is ready to be served and place the crackers next to every sitting.
To make the table look extra special, dress it with holly, berries, flowers and even some festive nuts, for example chestnuts.
3.
Prepare the Turkey - Yes I said it! Prepare the turkey on Christmas Eve! Firstly, this will save you waking up extra early on Christmas morning (which nobody wants to do) and secondly your turkey will taste so much better.
Why you ask? By seasoning your turkey on Christmas Eve, all the fragrant and beautiful tasting spices will be able to marinate into the turkey over night, GUARANTEEING a tasty, succulent turkey, which everyone in the family will love.
