3D Puzzle Games

    • Modern game play is advancing as new technologies emerge. Because of this, many games are taking on 3D graphics rather than regular flat 2D. This applies even to the puzzle genre of gaming. Rendering puzzles in 3D can help visualize a solution more easily than a 2D puzzle game. Online 3D puzzle games involve strategy and skill to play.

    3D Logic

    • As far as 3D puzzles online go, 3D Logic may be one of the best known. 3D Logic and its sequel, 3D Logic 2, have the appearance of a Rubik’s cube, but the game is somewhat more complex. The cube features colored squares, distributed across the sides of the cube. In order to advance to the next level, you must connect the same-colored cubes using a path you draw with your mouse. To do this, click and hold one colored marker, then use your mouse to draw a path to the end marker and release the mouse button. The trick here is that the lines of each colored cube must not cross. The levels increase in difficulty as you solve each previous level.

    Gems 3D

    • Gems 3D takes marble-like gems and creates a game of strategy from them. Gems are dropped onto the playing board three at a time. The object of the game is to create lines of five or more similar gems in a row. The gems can be in line horizontally, vertically or diagonally. With each turn, you are allowed to move one gem from its current location to an empty space on the board. If the entire board becomes full, the game ends. Within the game, you can configure game play to make things easier or harder. By default, the game board is 9x9, with 5 gems or more needed to gain points. You can alter the number of gems dropped each turn to make it anywhere from one to seven. The minimum line length for point scoring can vary from three to 10. The game also lets you edit the board size, from 5x5 to 15x15, as well as changing the number of different gem types, from three to 12.

    Quantz

    • Gamerizon’s 3D puzzle game Quantz marks the first time a 3D puzzle game was manufactured for the Linux operating system. Quantz features several levels in 24 different worlds. You must attempt to attach marbles to a cube to create chain reactions. The game features three modes of play: strategy, action and puzzle. Strategy mode allows you to play as normal, launching marbles at the cube to gain points. Action mode changes game play slightly, focusing more on reactive measures than calculated launching of the marbles. In puzzle mode, you must solve different cube arrangements to advance to the next level, with more than 100 puzzles total.
