Guadalajara, a vastly diverse city with historic and modern qualities, is the state capital of Jalisco.
With a population of more than 3 million, it is the second largest of the Mexican cities.
It is an attractive tourist destination for those who want to be in the midst of a city that bears the marks of some of Mexico's major cultural symbols.
This city provides with a welcome retreat to those who are already saturated with resorts and beaches.
This is a city that appears to be serene in its own way even with its busy pace.
Its history dates back to the 16th Century and bears the symbol of Mexican cultural heritage.
Guadalajara has its own attractions in the forms of parks, fountains, mountains and avenues lined up with trees.
It is about 335 miles (540 kilometers) from Mexico city and has a beautiful climate with temperatures ranging between 52º to 79º F (11º to 26º C).
It is one of the most important Mexican cities and boasts to be the home of Mexico's cultural symbols like the hat dance, mariachi, Mexican rodeos and of course, tequila.
The must visit places of this city includes the beautifully architected Hospicio Cabañas that was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
This building is the house of the murals by Jose Clemente Orozco.
The city also has lovely parks like el Bosque la Primavera (the Primavera Forest), which is usually considered to be the city's lungs.
Apart from that, there is Parque Metropolitano which provides you with the option of camping and other sports activities.
Last but not the least Guadalajara is best known for its hospitality that has earned it the well deserved title of Pearl of the West.

You can also visit the cathedral in the historic center of the downtown.
This cathedral is famous for its exemplary towers.
The Degollado Theater, locally known as the Teatro Degollado, is located just behind the cathedral and is one of the major cultural venues of the city.
Guadalajara also offers a vibrant and happening nightlife with plenty of restaurants and bars that serves mouth-watering foods and traditional mariachi music.
