How to Remove a 2002 Elantra Taillight
- 1). Open the trunk and pull up the cloth lining in the trunk of the car. The cloth lining will be held down by plastic tabs. The cloth lining can be pulled over the tabs. Behind the cloth, locate the tail light assembly secured by 8mm nuts.
- 2). Unbolt the 8mm nuts from the back of the tail light assembly with the ratchet and socket. Turn in a counterclockwise direction to loosen and remove the nuts.
- 3). Move the taillight assembly back and forth from the outside of the car. The 2002 Elantra taillight assembly is inserted into a tube. The assembly will slide out of the tube as you wiggle it back and forth.
- 4). Look behind the lens to access the bulbs. Bulbs will come out by pressing in on the bulb while at the same time turning counterclockwise. The bulb will release; at that time, pull the bulb straight out.
- 5). Push in a new bulb and turn clockwise to lock. Push assembly back into car and secure by bolting the 8mm nuts back in. Replace lining in trunk. Check to see if functioning by turning on the car.
