There are new albums coming out all the time. We've picked several of the best country album releases from June 2005

1. Craig Sellers - Something Worth Fighting For

This native of the Smoky Mountains foothills started playing guitar at the age of 10. He has a real nice husky voice and knows how to pick a guitar. He also has a great sense of humor also, there are a couple of funny songs on this album. "Do These Boots Match My Thong" and "Jose Can You See" pretty witty writing I'd say. A great addition to any country fans collection. I can't wait to hear more from this artist.More »

2. Dwight Yoakam - Blame the Vain

Dwight Yoakam has taken his music in all sorts of directions throughout his career, all the while keeping his underslung-heeled cowboy boots firmly planted in his Kentucky roots traditions. His dedication to that roots music sound has been what has made him the King of Cowpunk, and a country hipster without equal. He's moving in another new direction now, and for the first time taking up the reins of producer, as well. The result is a little uneven, but still it's Dwight.More »

3. Gene Watson - Then and Now

While most contemporary country stations neglect to play traditional-based country music, there are artists like Gene Watson out there who continue to make great country music albums. If you're a fan of traditional country music then you check out Gene Watson's "Then And Now.More »

4. Caitlin Cary & Thad Cockrell - Begonias

"Begonias" is a wonderful duets album from Caitlin Cary and Thad Cockrell. So wonderful, in fact, that I anticipate the record being one of my 10 best at the end of the year. This is a record that traditional country fans will cherish as will the built-in "alternative country" music fans.More »

5. Kentucky Headhunters - Big Boss Man

It's hard to believe it's been fifteen years since I first heard the powerful rock- influenced real country jamming sound of Kentucky Headhunters. They blew me away then with their awesome disc of classic country covers, "Pickin' On Nashville," and now they're doing it again with another disc full of great cover songs. The Headhunters are great original musicians, but they can really kick butt on covers.More »

6. George Strait - Somewhere Down in Texas

George Strait is as great as ever. After delving into the more "pop-influenced" country in the late 1990's, George returned to the "twang" with 2003's "Honkytonkville" and had one of his most critically acclaimed albums ever. "Somewhere Down In Texas" is another keeper.More »

7. Erika Jo - Erika Jo

If you want a refreshing album from a wonderfully talented new artist (and winner of Nashville Star 3), give Erika Jo's self-titled debut a listen. She sounds wonderful and has a great collection of eleven songs written by talented artists like Katrina Elam, Rachel Proctor, in addition to Jessi Colter's song "I'm Not Lisa."More »

8. Bering Strait - Pages

This is another excellent album from this talented Russian group. I found it to be very relaxing and soothing to listen to. These young people are very good at what they do, and if you enjoy the Bluegrass sound, you will enjoy the album.More »

9. Hot Apple Pie - Hot Apple Pie

Over the years country music has morphed into different segments of one genre yet the one thing that?s usually stayed constant is the quality of songwriting. Hot Apple Pie?s self-titled debut album if packed with quality songs. This is a feel-good album.More »
