    Calcium Carbonate

Limestone sedimentary rock forms from shells and skeletons of ocean organisms. Dolomitic limestone is agricultural lime containing equal parts of magnesium carbonate and calcium carbonate, according to West Virginia University Extension.

    Calcium Oxide

    • Calcium oxide (CaO) is the principal component of burnt lime, also called quick lime, made by heating agricultural lime to high temperatures.

    Calcium Hydroxide

    • Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) is the key ingredient in slaked lime or hydrated lime. Adding water to burnt lime creates this variation of lime, according to the North Carolina Cooperative Extension.
