Creating invitations for a bridal shower is a great way to personalize the shower. Each bride is unique, and a creative, well-crafted invitation can reflect the bride's personality and tastes. Cute and creative bridal shower invitations don't need to be complicated. Use your imagination and find a way to tie in the invitation with the colors and theme of the wedding. Decorative papers, rubber stamps, ribbon and embellishments can make beautiful invitations without breaking the bank. - For a 4.25 by 5.5 inch invitation, cut a piece of colored paper or card stock that measures 4 by 5.25 inches. About an inch from the top of the card stock, punch two small holes about half an inch apart. Thread a piece of coordinating ribbon through the holes. Thread a metal wedding ring decoration on each side of the ribbon. Tie a bow to hold the rings in place.
- Make a template for an open umbrella. Trace and cut the umbrella on patterned paper or use a solid paper and decorate it with glitter glue and other embellishments. Attach the umbrella to the invitation with pop-dots or dimensional adhesive. Make the umbrella handle out of craft wire and attach it securely to the card. Use jewelry-making tools to fold under the rough ends of the wire to minimize the risk of poking or scratching someone.
- Use bridal-shower-themed rubber stamps to create a unique invitation. Use different ink colors to draw attention to a specific part of the invitation (like stamping a bouquet in a different color), or use markers to color in the stamped images. Embellish the invitation with self-adhesive gems, colored brads, or ribbon. Another way you could offset a stamped item would be to stamp it on the invitation and then stamp a second image on a piece of card stock. Cut out the image on card stock and attach it to the invitation with pop-dots to raise it slightly.
- Create a bouquet of flowers on a card using silk flowers made for paper crafting. The flowers can be layered to create depth, and can be attached to the card with brads. It's best to attach the cards to a 4 by 5.25 inch of card stock (for a standard-sized invitation) that you attach to the invitation with adhesive. This will hide the back side of the brads and look better than the exposed brads. Choose silk flowers that are the same color as the bride chose for her wedding theme.
