How to Spin Balance a Tire
- 1). Clamp the wheel on the spin-balancing machine and secure it.
- 2). Measure the rim width and depth. The balancing machine will have special tool provided for accurate measuring.
- 3). Enter the measurements and diameter size of your tire into the balancing machine. If you are not sure how this is accomplished, check the manual for instructions. The procedure is specific to the type of machine you are using.
- 4). Allow the machine to spin the tire by turning it on or closing the hood. The machine will prompt you to add weights if the balance of your tire is off.
- 5). Add weights as needed either to the edge or inside of the rim. Some aluminum rims require weights to be stuck onto the inside as opposed to the outside edge. Once the weights are installed, re-spin the tire and check the balance again. Use the arrow on the machine to align the weights correctly. The machine will move weights as you instruct it based on the readings you receive from the display. Continue to spin the tire, making adjustments until the display reads zero.
