What could have been more befitting than an England vs.
Australia match for the twenty-twenty world cup final? Both teams have been known to be arch rivals ever since the cricket began as an international sport.
They play well, have the sporting spirit and fight it out till the very last ball.
Anytime they have a match the results are unpredictable and could change anytime till the last ball is bowled.
But this time world cup for the twenty-twenty format of cricket was a little different.
Both teams had to fight hard to reach the finals.
Sri Lanka had put up a good fight against England in the semis while Australia had almost lost the semi-final to Pakistan.
But the better team always wins! Going by the fight put up by Australia in the semi-final, cricket critics declared them the popular choice as the world champions even before the final started.
But as England won the toss and chose to bowl first, everything seems to be changing.
Team England was out to prove the cricket critics wrong and determined to win the final match.
They managed to make early breakthrough by snatching three early wickets and left Australia clueless at 8 for 3.
Team England put up a good show by some good bowling and fielding.
Team Australia was desperate to put up some runs on the board to make the total competitive enough for a final.
Hussey did manage to hit a couple of big shots and steered Australia to a competitive score.
The score was decent enough to chase easily for the English but Australia is not among the teams to ever give up.
They put in 200% in the bowling department so as to compensate what the batsmen couldn't do for them.
That's team spirit.
England initially had slight trouble making runs but they never fumbled and the target always seemed achievable.
After 10 overs, England was close to half way mark for the runs as well, but they didn't let Australia take away the match from there on.
A few brilliant shots, good running between the wickets and much before the final overs could be bowled England had proved themselves worthy of the trophy by winning the match comfortably.
All and all most appropriate clash for the final, a good show by both the teams.
Wonderful team spirit and sportsmanship by each and every player on the ground! Though England never gave Australia any chance to win the match but Australia also put up a brilliant show and didn't let the English side just walk away with the trophy.
