    • The Chevrolet Chevelle was a popular sports car in the 1960s, equipped with a powerful engine that applied liberal amounts of horsepower and torque to deliver fairly blistering performance for that day and age. Knowing the engine specs for the Chevelle will help you relive those glory days.

    Engine Sizes

    • The Chevelle came with either a six- or eight-cylinder engine, depending upon the model type. This was paired to a three-speed, four-speed, or Powerglide transmission.

    Engine Horsepower

    • The six-cylinder engines produced either 120 or 140 horsepower, making them the weakest of the lot. The eight-cylinder engine produced either 195, 220, 250, 300, 350, or 375 horsepower, for a wide range of outputs across the class.

    Engine Torque

    • The six-cylinder engines produced either 177 or 220ft.-lbs. of torque. The V-8 models produced 285, 295, 350, 360, or 415 ft.-lbs. of torque, commiserate with horsepower statistics.
