Rudy Trace Soliz III, 44, of Brownsville, Texas.

The Charges:

Transporting aliens and accepting a bribe as a public official

The Case:

While employed as a Customs and Border Protection Officer, court records show that Rudy Soliz allowed a female co-conspirator to transport illegal aliens through his vehicle inspection lane in exchange for sexual favors. Evidence showed that Soliz demanded, sought, received and accepted the sexual favors and allowed a total of eight illegal aliens to cross into the United States.

The Conviction:

Aug. 4, 2010, Soliz pleaded guilty to transporting a certain alien within the United States for private financial gain and for accepting a bribe in his capacity as a government official.

The Sentence:

On Jan. 11, 2011, Soliz was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, a sentenced enhanced by the fact that he was a public official in a sensitive position.
