Halloween gives adults and kids the chance to express themselves. It's one of the only times of the year when you can be anything or anyone that you want. Visit any party supply store and you'll likely see hundreds of costumes, but there's something to be said for making your own costume. A popsicle costume is a good example of this because few companies make such a costume. Making a popsicle costume on your own lets you customize the design and make it look exactly how you want.

    Box Costume

    • To make a basic popsicle costume, all you need is a box and pantyhose or tights. Opt for a box that's roughly the size of your body, minus a few feet. The box should fit over the top of your head and reach at least mid-thigh, if not longer. Set the box over your head and mark the location of your face. Cut a circle or square shape from this area with a utility knife. Then, paint the outside of the box in a color that matches your favorite flavor. For example, dark brown for chocolate and purple for grape. Pair tan colored shoes and tights or pantyhose. Your legs look like the sticks, while the box serves as the popsicle.

    Bar Costume

    • Place two large pieces of cardboard on top of each other and sketch out your design for the popsicle costume. Make the top rounded or wavy, to resemble the bite marks left behind after someone bites into the popsicle. Add sides to the popsicle costume by gluing thinner pieces of cardboard to the sides. Wrap the entire piece in brown felt or another type of material and secure in place with craft or fabric glue. Cut two holes in the sides, for arms and a hole in the center for your face.

    Simple Costume

    • Make a simple popsicle costume from a sheet, dyed to match your favorite flavor. If you're feeling more adventurous, dye the sheet into three separate sections. Make sections of red, white and blue for a rocket pop. Cut a hole in the center of the sheet to let your face breathe. Top it off with khaki pants and matching shoes to act as the popsicle stick. Alternatively, dye only the top of the sheet a different color and leave the rest white. Explain to other party goers that you're a yet to be unwrapped popsicle.
