How to Assemble Your New Bedroom Furniture

Alright, so you moved to a new apartment. Everything is great, the view is awesome, the place is roomy. You can definitely see yourself living there, right? Now comes the time to choose your new furniture that will go nicely with the new place. You go to IKEA, for example, and you start browsing. As you stroll between all the objects on display, a lovely bedroom set catches your eye and you purchase it. Then you get the boxes home and once you get them in the bedroom itself, you realise what you've done. The boxes say "some assembly required". Sounds a little like a horror story, right? Well, there are two options available. First, you can hire some local London furniture assembly company (or Bristol, or wherever you live). Second, you can do it on your own. If you choose the second option, but you don't want to waste countless hours in hard work, keep reading.

1. Prepare the work area
Place all the parts on the ground. Spread them around and position yourself somewhere in the middle of them. This way you can have access to all of them and you won't have to dig through the parts to find one particular little plank.

2. Check the parts list
Make sure all needed boards, bolts, nuts and screws are there before you do anything. You don't want to assemble nearly all of your new bed, just to find out you can't finish the build because a screw is missing.

3. Get the tools needed
This is pretty self-explanatory. You can't do much without the proper tools. It's not like you can tighten screws with your bare hands, right?

4. Read the instructions carefully
Don't touch any of the parts. Don't even look at them. Just read the instructions carefully. Twice, if needed. Make sure you understand the whole process and what the finished piece should be.

5. Begin the assembly
Okay, you can touch the parts now. But keep reading the instructions and follow each and every step exactly the way it's described. The worst mistake people do in furniture assembly is to think they know what they're doing. If you haven't assembled many pieces like these, you probably don't know what you're doing, so stick to the instructions.

6. Make sure everything is attached firmly
You don't want anything falling apart, so once you're done with the assembly, make sure that all parts will stay where you put them. Especially if the furniture in question will have something or someone on it, or if its own parts are heavy and dangerous. So, for your bedroom set this is a must. There aren't any light parts there.

If you follow my instructions, you should have a perfect bedroom set in no time. And next time you decide to put something together, no matter for which room, keep in mind these six tips.
