If you are planning a beach wedding on one of the Hawaiian Islands, you may just be tempted to go Hawaiian style all the way.
Hawaii is well known for its laid back and care-free holiday atmosphere.
After all you will be surrounded by palm trees, sea and sunshine.
You may want to spend all day in the ocean or just feel too relaxed to want to get into a big white wedding dress.
Don't worry I'm not suggesting that your wedding dress become an interpretation of the hula girl costume and that the groom go in a Hawaiian floral shirt.
The traditional Hawaiian wedding gown is actually quite elegant.
The holoku is complete with lace, long sleeves a high neckline and a long train.
This is a beautiful style dress, prefect for an indoor ceremony, and may need to be tailored for a seashore ceremony.
Why not consider giving the holoku your own personal touch.
By using the slim lines and fit of the dress you could have a similar styled dress but adapt it to suit the location of your beach wedding.
If you are out on the sandy shore then the last thing you want is to feel hot and sweaty or have your dress blowing up to your face.
To avoid such uncomfortable situations then you could opt for a shorter length or sleeveless option.
Consider your fabric choice too.
You may want to consider cotton , lace or chiffon which are light weight and cool, perfect for the warm Hawaiian weather.
Keep in mind that most Hawaiian wedding dress styles do not include traditional veils and many opt for flowered garlands instead.
Depending on your personal preferences, you may opt be a fusion of the Hawaiian magic and elegance of a traditional wedding, by opting for a boldly colored dress or keep the dress simple and go for bold accessories.
No dress is complete without the right accessories.
If you really want to enhance the tropical atmosphere in your appearance, choose a lei made from silk flowers or delicate shells.
Beautiful jewelery can be made from mother of pearl, kukui nuts, shell strands, or freshwater pearls.
Other Hawaiian dress accessories can include delicate flowered, hair combs, decorative fans, and paper parasols to name a few.
