How to Watch Video on Nintendo DS

    • 1). Download a free video converter from the Internet. Several free video converters can be downloaded, one of which is listed in the Resources section of this article .The Niontendo DS uses the Moonshell Media player, which will play back only MPEG-format video files.

    • 2). Convert the video files on your computer to the MPEG format. Once you've downloaded and opened the conversion software, click "browse" on the program's home screen and select the video file you want to convert. The program will ask you to choose a format. Select "MPEG" and click "convert."

    • 3). Save the newly converted video file to the computer's "My Documents" folder.

    • 4). Insert the R4 memory card into your computer's USB drive. Give the computer a few seconds to detect the R4 card and then open the "My Computer" file folder located on the computer's desktop. You'll notice the card shows up as a removable disk and open it by double clicking on the file folder.

    • 5). Minimize the R4 file folder and open a second "My Computer" file from the computer's desktop. Click on the "My Documents" file folder and finally open the "My Videos" folder by double clicking it. Restore the R4 folder to half size and place it next to the "My Documents" folder.

    • 6). Highlight the video file in the "My Videos" folder and drag it into the R4 folder. This will transfer the video file onto the R4 drive. Remove the R4 flashcard from the computer's USB port when the file transfer has completed.

    • 7). Insert the R4 flashcard into the Nintendo DS and then switch on the Nintendo DS. When the Nintendo DS system has finished turning on, click the R4 option on the DS home screen. Select the Moonshell prompt and select the video file you wish to view. The file should start playing instantly.
