My Best Pinback Songs Ever - From A Musician

Wasted: Wasted is really cool, very simple, almost punk song the band wrote which was featured on the O.
C - the song depicts every type of stereotype that people associate with being a total drop out, loser, punk, drunk or dirty hippy! It's tongue in cheek though as ever, and super intelligent as the band themselves are.
It begins as a kind of slow drab tonal trip like the band are famous for, but ends as a total revision of the song in punk heavy distorted guitars mode.
GREAT! Hohum: I really like the optimism this song begins with before sort of spinning out into the sad and lonely slightly experimental down beat section.
The way the harmonies kick in too are special as all Pinback songs, but I love how this song teases at building and the tiny little breaks.
I guess it stands out as one of the best due to it's slightly up tempo nature and the natural feel of the analog drums which I think really did the band a massive favor in the band's life.
Anti-Hu: so it's straight in there with the lovely bass tones of Armistead Burwell Smith introducing the song.
The beat is the typical electronic beat for which we know and love the band.
Really I included the song in this list because I think most Pinback fans think that this is a fantastic song - one of most fans' favorites.
Although I mostly love the stuff with the live drums, as a go to list for fans, I think it's fair to include this in the list.
These are examples of the hugely attractive catalogue of outputs by one of the most artistically prolific bands of the underground indie scene.
If only there was a search function when looking into a genre that just instantly brings your attention to the best ones, wouldn't that be fantastic.
I am sure that if you were to start listening to a large mass of bands such as Keane, Kaiser Chiefs, Killers, Bloc Party among others, the aggregator would eventually lead you to Pinback due to the originality of the band.
Probably removed by just one, two or three steps from a broad range of artists who would have been influenced by the band's music.
If you choose to follow what i am saying here and check the band out, or if you happened upon this article through somewhat accidental circumstances, believe me, you'll be grateful!
