103 12
The PS3 is shaping up to be the Media Centre for any Lounge/Living but one niggle I can have when performing various tasks from day to day is some of the missing features that Linux for example has.
But there is a super easy way to get around this and that is to install a brand new operating system onto your pride and joy, yes your PS3 can actually do this, and pretty easily too! Note: While performing this you should not turn off or power down your PS3 in anyway as this can damage the software 1.
Insert the installation disk / storage media
The first thing you are going to need to do is insert the disk or other media storage device which contains the operating system of your choice into the PS3.
2.
Go to >System Settings and then the >home menu.
3.
Choose >Install other OS The system will now search for the installer (installation disk / media).
When the system find this its location and content will then be displayed.
4.
You should now check the installer's content
Select >Ok Upon selecting OK the installer will now start and you should simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
5.
Change to your newly installed Operating System You should now to to >settings >system settings >default system and then choose >other OS (this will restart your system).
That's all there is to it! You will now have a funky new operating system for your friends to get all teary eyed over when visiting.
