    • 1). Detach the electrical wires from the motor, which is inside the electrical box. Moving the machine will be a lengthy process, so you might want to make notes of the attachment points for each wire. Then, wrap a nylon strap around the motor, head and turret, as well as the hook on your engine hoist. Remove the nuts holding the column to the turret, and use the hoist to lift the turret and head.

    • 2). Disconnect the power outlet on the table and set it to one side. This should involve some unscrewing but may also require a ratchet set to loosen, depending on the manufacturer. Also, take off the gib and the adjusters by taking out the screws holding them in place. Slide the table to one side and then raise it, once the table won't run into the saddle.

    • 3). Take out the bolts that hold the connection at the machine's knee. These bolts keep the lead screw in place, which may have a set of bearings, depending on the manufacturer. If the bearings make a harsh sound when you rotate them, apply some brake spray to clean them up.

    • 4). Move the engine hoist over to the space above a wheelbarrow, and lower the turret and head into the wheelbarrow. Line up the hand truck between your base and column. Use these two items to move these two heaviest parts of the machine. Bring the knee and any bolts or screws you removed by hand. Follow the disassembly instructions in reverse once the base of the machine is where you want it.
