    • 1). Search for a similar file and download it instead if your current download discontinues, as the problem may lie on the host website where you are downloading the file from.

    • 2). Uninstall and reinstall Limewire if it fails to search for any available files whenever you type anything on the search bar.

    • 3). Use a reputable antivirus software to run a complete computer scan and search for harmful viruses that may be hindering you from completing or initializing your Limewire downloads. Quarantine or heal them, if possible.

    • 4). Update your version of LimeWire. Open a Web browser and navigate to the official LimeWire website. Limewire will update you every time a new version becomes available. Make sure that you download the most recent version of the program as the current version you are using may be corrupted and may need to be reinstalled to your computer. Updating LimeWire will also help you enjoy the program's full functionality.

    • 5). Download one file at a time to maximize the speed of your Internet connection and speed-up downloads. Alternatively, you can decrease the number of files you download to avoid slow download times.

    • 6). Make sure that a firewall is not preventing LimeWire from downloading files. Open the "Control Panel" and then switch to "Classic View." Double click "Windows Firewall." If your firewall is turned on, make sure that LimeWire is listed as an exemption. Click on the "Exceptions" tab, click on the box beside LimeWire, and then click "Ok."
