My Kenmore Washer is Leaking From Underneath
- 1). Inspect the area to make sure the leak is coming from the washing machine and not a surrounding appliance or pipe. The water may be pooling under the washer after leaking from a pipe or other appliance nearby.
- 2). Tighten the water inlet and drainage pipes at the back of the appliance with a pair of pliers to ensure they're properly connected. A loose water pipe may cause a slow leak of water that gathers beneath the washing machine.
- 3). Tighten the bolts on the drainage hose to make sure it's properly connected, and make sure the pipe sits correctly inside the drainpipe. The drain must be able to handle a rapid flow of water, around 17 gallons a minute, from the washing machine. Blockages in the household plumbing may also lead to a drainage problem and a leak.
- 4). Shut off the water supply and check the condition of the inlet hose washers. Unscrew the pipes from the appliance and look inside to see if the washers are damaged, split or incorrectly installed. Replace the washers if necessary.
